4th Day
Karranga Valley - Barafu Hut (4750 m)

As you can see from the above picture, it was now quite cold. Also You can see the ridge we was to follow to the top. It is on the right side of Kibo. Barranco Hut was at the left side of Kibo.
The porters had a hard job. We walked along with small backpacks and they had to carry food, tents, water etc in baskets on their head.
This day we walked mostly in vulcanic desert areas, and when we reached Barafu Hut there was not even grass. Barafu means ice, and we understood the reason for the name. This short night in the tent was cold.
