This day we saw the top of the mountain for the first time. Kibo is the highest and youngest of the three vulcanos on Kilimanjaro, Mawenzi is the second highest. On the top of Kibo is Uhuru Peak (Uhuru means freedom) which is 5895 metres above sea level.

When we reached Barranco Hut we were above all forest, and even further above the clouds. This was a quite strange feeling. We could also feel the thin air now, and had to walk very slowly.

As usual we got a fine meal preperad on the fire, and this night the moon shined on Kibo.
